The Superintendent Work Management Planning is responsible for ensuring the development, endorsement, approval and communication of all plans and schedules for the operation, including Health, Safety, Environment, Community (HSEC), production, and other discrete activities where 1SAP Work Management processes are being applied.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate and support the BHP Billiton Charter and the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Promote and support the overall health, safety and work environment by implementing and assisting in the enforcement of the requirements of the New Mexico Coal Health and Safety Programs.
  • Implement the BHP Billiton Sustainable Development Policy and HSEC Management Standards along with the New Mexico Coal Company's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Ensure accurate weekly work schedules are produced, aligned to the corresponding 12 week planning window and signed off by relevant sub-functions.
  • Provide input into the maintenance budget by ensuring that plans and items are properly called in 1SAP, liaise with work center owners to ensure that work center capacities are accurately updated in the 1SAP system and support the correct use of the 1SAP system and ensure your team follows these processes.
  • Spend appropriate time verifying employees and contractors adhere to work standards, are competent and understand the purpose and functionality of critical controls relevant to their work; confirm that all contractors and service providers have completed relevant health, safety and environmental compliance training prior to the commencement of their duties.
  • Identify and correct potential safety hazards as well as investigate, analyze and generate recommendations for correcting potential safety problems.  
  • Chair the weekly work schedule meeting and ensure attendance as per 1SAP process requirements.
  • Perform other assignments as directed to meet business needs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six years of relevant underground mining experience of which three were served in a supervisory capacity and a New Mexico Underground Foreman certification, or an ability to obtain one, required; completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field and registration as a Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional preferred. 
  • Verifiable experience leading a diverse team of individual contributors at multiple locations assigned to numerous projects while ensuring adherence to deadlines and compliance requirements is mandatory.
  • Strong presentation skills, including written and verbal communications skills, for the purpose of recording and presenting information in a group setting is necessary.
  • Must be able to apply technical information from a variety of sources and complete projects within established time and budget constraints as well as effectively interact at all levels of the organization and with vendors in a team-oriented, rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of computer applications, including 1SAP and MS Office Suite, (Word, Excel, Project & PowerPoint), required.
  • Must be aware of the hazards and risks involved in the mining environment and demonstrate a pattern of conduct consistent with the acceptance of responsibility for encouraging a safe work environment.
  • Consistent history of satisfactory performance, including attendance, is mandatory.

Description:
Under minimal supervision, the Class A Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul and maintenance of customer and company heavy equipment and components. Depending on location and assignment, will be responsible for some or all of the functions and duties listed below.
Duties:
Administrative:
• Prepares accurate and complete service reports and turns them in on time
• Prepares inspection and appraisal reports
• Correctly charges work to appropriate workorder segments

Interpersonal:
• Communicates effectively with Service Writer, Shop Coordinators and Shop Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on

Technical:
• Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components.
• Prepares, inspects, and operates machines prior to delivery
• Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts
• Determines reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines
• Orders replacement parts ensuring that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
• Services and maintains equipment sold and/or owned by the company
• Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots machine and engine malfunctions and failures
• Analyzes customer repair and maintenance requirements
• Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems
• Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Performs maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired equipment
• Makes recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteria
• Makes parts replacement decisions assuring optimum economic reusability

Supervisory:
• Provides direction, training, mentoring and guidance to assigned service technicians
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED with graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred

Minimum Experience Required:
Four years in heavy equipment, engine or electric power generation system repair
Administrative / Clerical Experience -Basic

A Field Service Mechanic is responsible for equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance in the field on rental and customer-owned machines. With minimal supervision, the Field Service Mechanic diagnoses customer breakdowns and performs timely repairs. This position may be asked to perform duties at any hour of the day or any day of the week. Flexibility and in-depth product knowledge are necessary for this position.

•Documents the 4 C’s (Complaint, Cause, Correction, Complication) on work orders.
•Promote a professional image by ensuring a clean personal appearance and well-kept, correctly maintained, company service vehicle.

•Applies the 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Sweep, Standardize and Sustain) principles following every job including the service vehicle.

Interpersonal
•Work effectively with others in the shop and help build a strong teamwork environment. Assisting with the mentoring of Level I and Level 2, mechanics can help promote this desired work team.

Technical
•Engage in required safety practices at all times
•Troubleshoots and repairs equipment when the knowledge needed exceeds the skill level of other mechanics
•Repairs equipment during all weather conditions as needed.
•Read and understand the manufacturers’ Operation and Maintenance Manual per machine type and comply with its contents.
•Ensure all operating controls and functions are in compliance with Manufacturers’ specifications.
•Inspect rental machines for customer damage and notify the Shop Coordinator regarding any specific damage found.
•Diagnose system failures to determine root cause
•Remove and reinstall failed assemblies, components and parts as needed.
•Determine reusability of parts in accordance with reusability guidelines.
•Service and maintain equipment sold by company
•Test, measure and adjust machine systems and components within tolerances of manufacturer’s specifications.
•Attends training as requested.
•Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
•Assist customers w/technical questions (by phone or in person)
•Practices courteous and safe driving habits in all traffic and weather conditions and complies with all traffic laws.



Supervisory
•Since this position has no supervisory responsibility the field service mechanic is expected to assume a leadership role in making sound decisions as they relate to safe practices, high standards of quality repairs, professional customer care and profitability to the company.
