Funding for Early Childhood
New Funding:
Smart from the Start Grant Program
Together Counts, with support from the National PTA, has launched a new grant opportunity for early childhood sites. "Smart from the Start" awards are designed to reward preschools that develop plans for creating practical, long-term improvements in nutrition and physical activity at their school. The winning preschool will be awarded $20,000 and ten runners-up will each receive $2,500. Early childhood education centers and schools with a Pre-K program are eligible to apply.

· Manages client relationships effectively.

· Responds

assessments, wetland delineations, groundwater and soil investigations,
risk assessments, hydrogeologic studies, remediation system design,
industrial hygiene services, underground storage tank assessments, and
remediation assessments.
· Evaluates and determines remedial strategies or monitoring plans, prepares reports, and presents recommendations to clients.
· Leads
and mentors a team of environmental specialists and field personnel to
ensure superior quality and profitable performance.
Education:
· HS/GED
· Bachelor's Degree: civil, chemical, environmental or petroleum
· Master's Degree: civil, chemical, environmental or petroleum
Experience:
· 10+ years experience

Storytelling Festival @ Berg Park
I was able to participate in the Storytelling Festival on Friday and Saturday, October 11and 12th. Where there were 5 main storytellers. Tim Tingles of the Choctaw Nation was able to go to Nizhoni Elementary on Thursday, October 10, 2013. His stories of Native American Folklore were enchanting, whimsical, comical and heart-warming. It was an amazing privilege to be able to hear stories from many backgrounds and cultures.

Enrollment rates for children who are eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are higher than ever. This is the finding from a recent analysis by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Urban Foundation. According to the study, most of the credit for increased enrollment can be given to increased awareness of CHIP and to efforts which simplify the plan enrollment and renewal process.
